August flew by on me, and I never hit send on my newsletter. It stated off great with our big trip to Colorado, Wyoming and Montana for our 25th anniversary.
We spent 7 wonderful days exploring. We started off the trip by flying into Denver Colorado. I hadn’t been on a plane since 2008 and I will say I was a bit nervous about the flight. It turned out to not be so bad, and well worth it to get to explore the beautiful scenery that is Wyoming and Montana.
The nature wasn’t the only thing that caught my attention. We visited different towns and cities across the state and I loved the vintage signs and all the old buildings. I have always found inspiration in old neon signs and there were a lot of them around the state. The buildings that they were attached too had very unique architecture and I loved all the details.
We visited the Buffalo Bill Center of the West twice as the ticket is valid for 2 days. There are five museums and a research library featuring art and artifacts of the American West located in Cody, Wyoming. It was a little overwhelming so we broke it up into two afternoon visits. There were two special exhibits open while we were there: Alfred Jacob Miller: Revisiting the Rendezvous — in Scotland and Today and Tony Foster: Watercolor Diaries from the Green River. I really enjoyed both of these and really came home inspired to create and paint more landscapes.
I started two sketchbooks since I have been back and I have only shared a couple of the spreads over on instagram. I plan on sharing them when I have the books completed.
Paint parties have started back in full force for me as well. I have been busy with these events and my schedule is booking up quickly for the last few months of the year.
